Variable Number of Activities/Groups

Variable Number of Activities/Groups

Postby Hans Sommer » Fri May 26, 2017 11:18 am

the goal is to simulate a work shop floor. Within the work shop floor there are a number of activities and queues which form several groups, representing work stations and processes. The Input Data is the number of available resources, the number and distribution of shop load events as well as the number of stations and processes available in the shop floor.

Does anyone have an idea, how to easily change the number of avaible acitvites/groups, wihtout using the "manual" replicate option? I was thinking of something in Visual Logic.

I appreciate your help.

What about creating a Component that captures all of the objects in the group?

You should be able to use the VL command "Create Simulation Object", or "Copy Simulation Object" to create/copy an existing component. This way, you can control how many are created within a VL loop.

The component will also be helpful at keeping relevant routing arrows intact, so that you don't also need to build those up in VL which could get quite complex!

You can read more on components here: ... components
